Sailor Moon Costume? Some of you may remember the popular Japanese fantasy cartoon that ran
for about 6 years in North America. The characters make great costume
ideas, and are still going strong with Cosplay and Fanfair and Comicon all around the world.
Cosplay, Fanfair, and Comicon costumes were once a cult following, but not anymore, with Hollywood, popular video games and HBO television series on board, this has become a popular form of entertainment, not to mention Sailor Moon makes a great costume for Halloween, or any costume party through out the year.
When my daughter’s friend asked me to make a this costume for her, I wasn't sure where to start. I couldn't find a sewing pattern for this specific costume, so I had to be creative...not so hard...in fact it was a lot of fun.
The costume was fun and not difficult to make. I couldn't find a pattern specifically for this character so I had to be creative and find an alternative.
This is how it turned out. You can see from the photo above it turned out quite well...or so I think.
Here are the instructions for how I made the costume.
Fabric I used: Note: The amount of fabric will depend on how large you need your costume and the pattern will advise you on the back.
I used two sewing patterns for this homemade costume, and for the bows, I made my own. Go to how to make a bow .
Both patterns have easy to follow directions. You can see that I used blue satin for the skirt and for the body suit I used white spandex with 4 way stretch.
I used red satin for the bows. If you need a tutorial on how to make bows go to this page or click the photo.
I hope I have inspired you to make a homemade Sailor Moon Costume. For more costume ideas leave sailor moon costume page to Go to homemade costumes page.
